Going to the Amazon...

Hi everyone,

We send you warm greetings from a beautiful Ecuador. The winter is starting in Quito, which means thunderstorms every afternoon.
This morning I read in the Bible this beautiful Psalm 96 which says:

1O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth. 2Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day. 3Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. 4For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.

This Psalm is the reason for our mission and ministry here in Ecuador: That all the nations might worship and praise the living God. Sometimes we don’t see direct results, but by sending out our students, we might know and delight in the fact that they will bring the Gospel to places of which we have never heard before.
Sarita, one of our Peruvian students, is doing her four-month-practicum in the jungle of Peru. She visits tribes (even cannibal-tribes!!!), and is planning to raise Christian leaders. Alexandra almost finished her practicum in Nairobi, Kenya, where she worked with orphanage children.

We are thankful to the Lord for these first fruits of the Intercultural Studies Program, and we see that God continues to bless the program. We have had visited professors this semester, such as Dr. Rick Waldrop, Dr. Dario Lopez, and Eloy Nolivos, and they have imparted much of their knowledge and experience in the new group of students.

Together with the local church in Puyo, Nestor organized a Mission Conference. Puyo is a small city in the Amazon-jungle. There is a church with 700 members who have a strong missionary vision. We spent three days with them, and Nestor preached each night, and Laura Saa and I gave the seminars. We praise God, because at a youth service, about 8 young people gave their life to the Lord, and during the Sunday morning services about 20 people answered the commitment to missions.

And what about us personally….it goes very well with us. I (Donata) am getting ready to go to Holland on the 1st of November. (Nestor comes a little later). The pregnancy goes very well, and according to the doctor we are expecting a girl! Now, we do not trust much the doctors here, because a friend of ours was also expecting a girl, but when the little one suddenly came, it appeared to be a boy. We are just happy and thankful that everything is going well.
Nestor and I are both teaching at the moment, and besides that Nestor teaches a Leadership Seminar during the weekends for 3 weeks.

May God bless you all!

Nestor & Donata Duque

It is always so good to hear from you, and to hear what the Lord is doing in your part of the world (which seems to broaden all the time). Sometimes I wish I could jump on a plane and come to join you. I'm glad to hear things are going so well. And I can't wait to see pictures of a baby Donata when she arrives. Much love to you.

One piece of advice from Neyver and I.... sleep as much as you can now... yes, yes,, walk lots too... but SLEEP. Once your little one comes- you might miss it Wink We love you... all 3 of you.

You look so good pregnant and I'm so excited to hear when the baby is actually born. Is there any way to change my email address because it keeps sending your updates to an old one?
